Executive (Research)

The Singapore-MIT GAMBIT Game Lab (GAMBIT) is looking for a research executive who will be responsible for building relationships between researchers/Institutions of Higher Learning (IHLs) in Singapore, and coordinating various research activities. As the key liaison person, he/she will drive the call for proposals (research in games), as well as, evaluate proposals and recommendations.

Major Responsibilities

  • Key liaison person between research institutions/organizations, and GAMBIT Singapore to coordinate visiting graduate students researchers between Singapore and MIT labs
  • Strengthen existing relationships and build collaborations between institutes of higher learning in Singapore and MIT
  • Research coordinator in charge of managing research activities under the Singapore lab and overseeing various research proposals (including the call for proposal, selecting good proposals, and evaluating recommendations from a review panel)
  • Propose and implement plans to create a systemic and sustainable network of game researchers to develop GAMBIT as a research and development hub regionally by 2011
  • Communicate GAMBIT mission and work closely with local and overseas researchers to form strategic partnerships to steer research efforts

Qualifications and Skills

  • Degree holder in Computer Science is preferred
  • Research knowledge in areas of games or gaming technology, with technical background and understanding of the role of game in research, education etc.
  • Good analytical and organizing skills, with the ability to multi-task on various projects and work independently
  • Independent team-player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong interest in games a plus

Game Artist (3D)
Singapore Lab

The Singapore-MIT GAMBIT Game Lab (GAMBIT) is looking for a 3D game artist who can communicate ideas, think and work creatively to design concepts for the games under development. He/she needs to be adaptable to changes and work collaboratively as a team player with: game producer, lead artists, designers, programmers, and quality assurance testers.

We welcome candidates with a passion for games, a strong portfolio, and relevant skills to apply. Freelance or full time positions are available.

Job Requirements

  • At least 2 years game industry or related 3D Games development experience is preferred
  • Able to work closely with designers, artists, and programmers to develop high quality 3D assets/models that enables great visual experience
  • Team player, with a passion for games/game development
  • Applicants should be a Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident

Qualifications & Skills

  • Creative and self-motivated team player who can work independently
  • Good communication skills for collaboration within and across teams
  • Proficiency in Maya/3Ds Max or any other 3D Development Tools
  • Knowledge in other 2D based software (e.g. Photoshop, Flash etc.) to draw 2D concept arts or storyboarding
  • Plays a variety of digital game (e.g. PC /Console games)
  • Related work experience in an Agile Development environment is a plus

Candidates should possess at least 2 of the following skills:

  • Modelling - Creating 3D models such as character, props and environment
  • Texturing - Creating and applying textures
  • Surfacing - Able to create and apply shaders is a plus
  • Animation - Creating rigging and animations to different models
  • Integration - Integrate and test created assets autonomously on the target hardware

Job Requirements

  • At least 2 years game industry or related programming experience is preferred
  • Able to work closely with designers, artists, and programmers to develop compelling technology that enables innovative game systems and features
  • Required to architect, program and optimize codes in existing or new systems, and with a focus on one or more game related specialties
  • Write clear, maintainable, portable code
  • Self motivated with demonstrated ability to work independently, and produces high quality work
  • Strong time management skills with a proven ability to accurately assess time requirements and complexity of assigned systems
  • Must be able to design systems thoroughly and break into manageable tasks
  • Team player, with a passion for games/game development
  • Applicants should be a Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident

Pluses

  • Plays all kinds of digital game (e.g. PC games/Console games etc.)
  • Strong interest in prototyping new gameplay features
  • Strong desire to work collaboratively with animators, artists, and designers
  • Has exposure/experience working in an Agile Development environment

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience with C#/C++
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Comfortable working within an existing code base
  • Demonstrate knowledge of software engineering practices
  • Expertise in C#/C++ and object-oriented design principles
  • Expertise and passion in one or more of the following areas:
    • AI
    • User Interfaces
    • General Gameplay
    • Graphics Engineering
